|Welcome to Antonino Bertolo's Pizza & Wine Bar|
The tradition of
hard work and dedication with the Bertolo family began when Pete
Bertolo had to start working at the age of 7 due to the sudden death of
his father. At the age of 9, he became a full-time painter. At the age
of 15, he and his family were driven out of Italy and chose to start a
new life in America. He began working at a sewing factory in New York
where he met his wife, Josephine, 4 years later. In 1978, Pete and Josephine started from
scratch a family business in Greenville, South Carolina. The
success of the family business is based on both a strong work ethic and
recipes steeped in Sicilian heritage. Antonino Bertolo went back to
his roots and all the recipes currently being used in the restaurant can
be traced back through 5 generations of Sicilian tradition. Antonino
Bertolo realized the importance of the perfect balance of tomato sauce
and spices when it comes to pizza sauce. The dough is made with 100%
pure olive oil with a hint of honey. And Lastly, the Mozzarella cheese
is still the same high quality “Grande Cheese” used when the doors
opened in 1977 to give Antonino Bertolo’s Pizza its unique rich flavor.
Antonino Bertolo’s signature pizza sauce uses the freshest and finest
ingredients mixed together to make the perfect New York style pizza with
a Sicilian influence.
What our customers are saying:
“The Real Deal!” 5 of 5 starsBertolo's
has the best pizza in the Upstate, maybe in SC! The crust is thin and
full of flavor, the toppings are fresh
(real ricotta cheese!), the
choices excellent. The servers are extraordinarily helpful. Can't say
enough good things about Bertolo's! “Quick and surprisingly good pizza” 4 of 5 starsAs
the previous reviewer noted, the quick lunch and good pizza make a
great combo for a working lunch in beautiful downtown Greenville. My
friends ordered a slice with a salad, and I ordered 2 slices. All were
at the table within minutes, even though the line was out the door and
almost every table was full. The crust and sauce were NY style and
definitely better than the local Pizza Hut or Dominoes.“Good quick lunch” 5 of 5 starsWas
in Downtown Greenville for business, and needed to get out for a quick
lunch. Certainly did not want a chain restaurant when surrounded by so
many unique restaurants on Mainstreet. Bertolo's smelled great while
walking by, so gave it a shot. Got 2 slices of sausage/pepperoni pizza.
Service was great, and the pizza was very tasty. Cannot think of any
fault. Crust was thin, crispy, and perfectly cooked. Sauce was good, and
the sausage had a great flavor. 'd certainly recommend a stop for a quick bite in here again.
